Learn more about Regenerative Tourism
When you visit Punta Leona, you take with you much more than the good memories of a getaway. You enjoy its exuberant nature, a walk along the ecological trails, a visit to its beautiful wetlands and coral gardens, a time of color when you enter its butterfly farm, or an incredible underwater museum. When you leave Punta Leona, you leave already in love and feeling a deep connection with the environment, beyond memories.
This is precisely what regenerative tourism is all about. It is a type of responsible tourism that seeks to create experiences that ultimately become deep connections between visitors, the community, and ecosystems. Its purpose is to create shared value and restore natural and sociocultural capital, and foster a conscious and environmentally friendly travel model.
Regenerative Punta Leona
Our regenerative tourism program in Costa Rica has three main aspects that seek to protect and promote healthy coexistence in harmony with nature, both within the hotel facilities, through environmental certifications, as well as with its marine and wildlife landscapes. Each of these areas is duly covered through different activities or initiatives that strengthen our commitment to ecotourism and environmental sustainability.
1. Tourism, environmental, social, and public health certifications: Through the following programs:
Blue Ecological Flag, Health Quality Seal, and the Sustainable Tourism Certificate, we ensure that we use resources responsibly at the resort facilities, guarantee the care of natural water sources, and evaluate the social, economic, cultural, and environmental impact of our hotel operations.
2. Conservation and environmental education programs:
In this pillar, we emphasize continuing to build connections with tourists and the community through programs that allow us to conserve, study, and develop knowledge of different species or expand spaces within the hotel's ecosystem. Our Scarlet Macaw Conservation program, regenerative wetlands initiative, aquaponic nursery, butterfly farm, and Private Reserve program allow us to promote appreciation for the forest, conserve species, educate about sustainable models, harness resources, and protect natural resources, all in harmony and sharing each of our achievements with those who choose to visit us.
3. Marine Conservation and Ecological Restoration:
Marine ecosystems are a fundamental part of our sustainable development and growth in harmony with nature. That's why we developed the Underwater Museum, coral gardening, and regenerative reefs as a way to conserve natural marine resources, generate ecological restoration of marine life, and foster the growth of new reef colonies. We create tourism experiences that allow visitors to foster deep connections with the Hotel and its initiatives.
Each of these initiatives seeks to provide tourists with an experience that will lead them to a deep connection with themselves, others, and nature. At Hotel Punta Leona, we are working far beyond sustainability; we are creating, forging, and developing the ideal path for restoration, reconciliation, and eco-social regeneration—environmental reconciliation and the true meaning of regenerative tourism in Latin America.
